Helpful Hints

  1. Removing scratches in holders  - Use Brasso for removing fine to moderate scratches from slabs. This works amazingly well!! Simply apply the Brasso using a soft rag or paper towel to the surface of the slab. Allow a few moments to dry to cloudy film. Then simply wipe off. Removes most fine scratches from the plastic. Works great!
  2. Removing residual sticker gum  - Use WD40 (yes WD40!) to remove the residual gum left behind on holders when stickers are removed. We have all tried many things to remove this "goo", most do not work! WD40 works like a charm! Don't ask how we figured this one out, don't remember.
  3. Population figures  - Remember that population figures are the "maximum" number of coins that a grading service might have graded. In most all cases, the actual number of coins certified in any grade is less, and in some cases, significantly less. This is due to the failure of people who resubmit coins(looking for a higher grade) to return the old inserts to the grading service.
  4. Advice regarding want lists  - A common thought regarding want lists is to provide the list to as many dealers as possible. If you think about it for a minute, it is self defeating. This becomes more relevant if you are looking for very rare items. Our advice is to provide your want list to a few select and experienced dealers, one of which we hope would be us, and let them do their job. By passing your want list out indiscriminately, you can drive the prices up on the very items you are looking to acquire.
  5. Expertise  - We know we can't possibly have all the coins you are looking for all the time. Allow us to pre-screen any coins you are thinking of acquiring from other dealers. We have provided this free service to our clients for years. You get another two sets of experienced eyes looking at the coin(s) for you and we quite often are able to save you money as well. By calling us first, we can act on your behalf to bring the coin into our office for viewing. We can then send the coin(s) to you on approval (for those clients that have approval privileges) and negotiate the best deal for you. A win-win situation... you can only win!

What's Hot

Early Type and original Mint State and Proof Type. I stress originality and anything with great color. I also like Capped Bust Half Dollars in AU thru MS65 with an eye towards originality (or those that at least look original).
Silver Commemoratives - MS65 and higher, especially with beautiful original color
Most of the 20th century series' and better dates within. Buffalo nickels, Mercury Dimes with Full Bands, especially early to mid dates dates prior to 1934, Early date Walking Liberty Halves, Standing Liberty Quarters with Full Head designation that really are full head.

*REMEMBER, WE ARE ALWAYS BUYING!! PLEASE OFFER ANY ITEMS YOU ARE THINKING OF SELLING!*
